UA Alumni - Nicholas Khoo
Nicholas was a Highly Commended Entrant for the Engineering category in 2020.
Since the awards, he has completed his Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Nanyang Technological University in Singapore and is currently employed as a business analyst with a government statutory board, working on Government-to-Employees (G2E) products.
What are you doing now and what has happened since the award?
Ever since I was awarded, I have always strived to be closer to the solutions side of technology. It has been 2 years since the award and I am currently a digital business analyst with a government statutory board, working on Government-to-Employees (G2E) products.
Where do your interests lie?
My interest has always been in technology, and I try to keep myself updated with the latest developments in the tech space. During my free time, I trek and play computer games.
What do you like the most about what you do?
I am still new in my current role, but I enjoy the fact that the products that I will help develop contribute to the betterment of the public officers in the various government agencies.
Has receiving an award for your hard work helped? How?
Receiving my award was indeed a surprise as I never expected to be placed among the top 10% of 4,000+ submissions. The award serves as a reminder to me that I can do anything if I put my mind to it. It also serves as a motivation to continue my research as well as development of products that can improve the lives of those around me.
Why should students submit their work?
You’ll never know if you’ll be one of the award winners unless you submit your work. Give it a shot! If you win an award, congratulations. If not, at least know that someone out there has read your work and gained some insights into your field of study!
