Roya Hassanzadeh

Roya is currently a final year medical student at the University of Glasgow, Scotland. She carried out her first undergraduate degree at Queen Mary University of London where she graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Sciences. During her time at University, Roya has carried out extensive volunteer work at Age Concern, St. John Ambulance, The Royal London Hospital, and Red Cross Children’s Hospital, Cape Town. She also had the exciting opportunity of volunteering with the London Olympic Games Anti-doping team in 2012.

Roya has a keen interest in academic medicine and several medical professionals have praised her peer-reviewed publications. She was the recipient the Royal College of Psychiatrists Medical Student Essay Prize In Old Age Psychiatry and won third prize for her essay in the British Geriatrics Society Ferguson Anderson Prize. She has a passion for travel and languages – speaking French and Farsi, as well as having obtained her Level British Sign Language qualification at night school.
