On arrival to Ireland from Brazil in 2006 to learn English, Veronica secured a job with Adelaide and Meath Incorporated Children’s Hospital (AMNCH) as a security officer. During her time in this position Veronica completed a FETAC Level 5 healthcare assistant (HCA) course and joined AMNCH nursing team as a HCA. On reflection, during this time Veronica realized she wanted to become a staff nurse and be able to fully assist patient needs. As English is her second language, Veronica needed to obtain the required IELTS points and also complete the NMIB assessment test. On completion of these requirements, she embarked on a life changing journey that was her BSc. General Nursing, which she successfully accomplished with first class honours degree. According to Veronica, without the support of her family, friends, Adelaide and Meath Society and College Tutors this achievement wouldn’t have been possible. Veronica says that she doesn’t have enough words to express the immense gratitude she has for Ireland, AMNCH and Trinity College for every single opportunity that has been afforded to her over the past number of years.
