Tara Griffin

What have you been up to since winning the Undergraduate Awards?
Since winning the award I have applied for and been offered IRCSET Enterprise Partnership Scheme funding. I received three years funding which will allow me to carry out research on the benefits of using vermicompost in agriculture.

What did winning the Undergraduate Awards mean to you?
It was great to know that all the hard work I had put in during college was worth it. It validated all the effort I had put in and of course I was delighted as I knew the award would help me pursue a career and acquire research funding.

What tips do you have for students entering the Undergraduate Awards?
I submitted my essay as I thought it was one of the best I had written. It wasn’t by far the essay I got the highest mark and that isn’t necessarily the only reason why you should choose one essay over another. It was a subject I was passionate about and in hindsight I enjoyed writing and researching it and I think this was one if the reasons it was selected.
