Roisin O’Flaherty

What have you been up to since winning the Undergraduate Awards?
Since winning one of the Undergraduates Awards I have commenced a PhD in chemistry in NUI Maynooth. I am currently undergoing my third year of study in the area of carbohydrate chemistry. In 2010 I received an Endeavour Research fellowship where I carried out research in the University of Melbourne, Australia for a period of 6 months. This experience was a once in a lifetime opportunity which I will never forget. Currently I am back researching with NUI Maynooth.

What do you see in store for 2011?
My plan for 2011 is to continue my research at NUI Maynooth and graduate. After this I am considering going abroad to carry out post doctoral work and then hopefully continue doing a job that I enjoy. In terms of new year’s resolutions I promised to get fit-but this is not going as planned to date!
