Kathy Bunney

Following Kathy’s success at The Undergraduate Awards in 2012 she returned to UCC to finish her undergraduate Law degree. Throughout her time as an undergrad she has played a very active role addressing student welfare issues in the mature student population within University College Cork. Elected as Mature Student Officer for the Students Union 2012/13 Kathy sat on the Equality Committee and introduced computer classes for mature students to ensure their skills were brought up to date with their fellow students, exam preparation classes at the end of term and helped to establish a Mature Student Common Room. Kathy also has remained an avid peer supporter within the uLink programme in UCC. For her work in UCC she was recognised by UCC’s Students Union in the shape of a student leader award and USI named her Mature Student of the Year 2012/13.

Academically, Kathy is pursuing a Research Masters in Law in University College Cork under the supervision of Dr. Bénédicte Sage-Fuller and Dr. Owen McIntyre. She has been awarded the Ronan Daly Jermyn Scholarship in pursuit of her chosen topic: ‘Irelands’ Foreshore: A Safe Path to a Sustainable Future’, where she will examine the licencing application processes within Irelands’ territorial waters.
