Karen O’Neill

Karen studied Ecology at University College Cork, where she also helped found the highly successful UCC Cancer Society. After graduating with a First Class Honours in 2014, Karen went on to start an Ecology-Geology PhD with Teagasc and the University of Dundee. This has allowed her to continue working in her field of interest: the conservation of the Freshwater Pearl Mussel. Karen works closely with the KerryLIFE team, a farm and forestry demonstration programme aiming to create sustainable models for these industries in environmentally sensitive catchments. As she has a farming background, Karen enjoys the opportunity to unite her agricultural and scientific knowledge!
