John Murtagh

What have you been up to since winning the Undergraduate Awards?
I have just completed a Masters in Environmental Engineering and have started working for a small consultancy firm Shibumi consulting in Ireland.

What did winning the Undergraduate Awards mean to you?
It was great to get recognition for work during you undergrad, it gave everyone a sense of acheivement and the ceremony was very well run giving it a definite sense of occasion.

What tips do you have for students entering the Undergraduate Awards?
I saw from my other colleagues and the numerous other students who were highly recommended the high standard of entries that was required. There are a wide variety of fields and I can only speak from an engineering point of view. I believe the best strategy would be to enter a project which you thoroughly enjoyed working on, presenting it clearly and emphasising the potential applications of your work.
