Erika Dowling

What are you up to now?
I am currently working as a speech and language therapist with Enable Ireland Wicklow Services. I am providing speech and language intervention for children presenting with physical disability.

What did winning mean to you?
Winning the Undergraduate Award was a very rewarding achievement. I thoroughly enjoyed completing my research paper, and felt privileged to have my work recognised by others. It was a very exciting and proud moment when I received my medal from our President.

Why do you think your entry was the winning paper in your category?
My paper has highlighted some novel findings, and pertinent issues for the field of augmentative and alternative communication. These findings may be of benefit when speech and language therapists are selecting an appropriate communication device for a particular service user.
