Eimhin Walsh

What are you up to now?
I spent the academic year 2009/2010 at Balliol College, University of Oxford reading for a master’s in Patristic Theology. I am currently undertaking a Ph.D. in historical theology at Trinity College Dublin, having been awarded an IRCHSS scholarship.

What did winning mean to you?
It was nice to see my work contextualised in the wider framework of scholarship in my field. Typically an undergraduate essay will go no further than the department in which it was submitted to, so it was nice to have my work assessed alongside work by students from other universities and backgrounds.

Why do you think your entry was the winning paper in your category?
I think that my genuine interest in the subject matter helped me to communicate my message more convincingly and that this contributed to a good essay overall.
